NACE Coatings Inspections of Regional Water Tanks, Washoe County, NV
Numerous structures maintained by Truckee Meadows Water Authority (TMWA) require maintenance to prevent corrosion and deterioration of the underlying steel, concrete, and other substrates. A large portion of these structures are steel potable water storage tanks, which require periodic re-coating to National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) standards. CME provides annual on-call National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) Coating Inspections to ensure proper surface preparation and coating application. Services include field inspection of the blasting, cleaning, and coating of the interior and exterior of the new tanks as well as structural steel welded repairs, as needed. Our scope of work includes:
- IBC Special Inspection
- NACE Level 1 Inspection & Testing
- Monitoring Environmental Condition
- Blast Profile Measurements
- Coating Thickness Measurements
- Holiday Testing
KEY CHALLENGES
- Full extent of tank condition and required repairs unknown until start of construction when tank is out of service and accessible
- Highly sensitive environmental constraints for many activities require flexibility for inspection scheduling
